Gandi Setup Guide

Connect your Gandi account to manage all your domains in Domain Collective.

Easiest Setup!

Gandi has the simplest API access - just create a Personal Access Token. No minimum domain requirements or approval needed.

Step 1: Navigate to User Settings

Access your Gandi account settings to create a token

Log into your Gandi account
Click on your profile/avatar in the top right
Select "User Settings" from the dropdown
Navigate to "Personal Access Tokens (PAT)" section
Click "Create" to start the token creation process

Step 2: Configure Token Settings

Set up basic token information

Token Name

Enter a descriptive name like "Domain Collective Integration"

Expires In

Options range from 7 days to 1 year. Select "1 year" for maximum duration

Token Resources

Select "The whole organization"

Token Expiry Notice

Gandi tokens expire based on your selection (7 days to 1 year). Set a reminder to generate a new token and update your integration before it expires. Domain Collective will notify you when your token fails.

Step 3: Select Required Permissions

Choose minimal permissions for security best practices

Under the "Domains" section, enable ONLY these two permissions:

See and renew domain names

Required for listing and viewing your domains

Manage domain name technical configurations

Required for DNS record and nameserver management

Leave All Other Permissions Unchecked

For security, do NOT enable:

Organization (View/Manage)
Billing
Manage mailboxes and email forwarding
Manage domain contacts
Manage owner changes & outgoing transfers
Manage incoming domain transfers
Web Hosting, Cloud, or SSL Certificates

Step 4: Create and Copy Token

Generate your token and save it immediately

Review your token settings
Click "Create"
Your Personal Access Token will be displayed

Copy Immediately!

The token is shown only once. If you lose it, you'll need to generate a new token. Copy it now and store it securely.

Personal Access Token

This is the only credential you need for Gandi (you'll enter it as "API Token" in Domain Collective)

Step 5: Connect to Domain Collective

Use your token to connect your Gandi account

You'll only need one piece of information:

API Token

Your Personal Access Token from Step 4

Add Gandi Integration

Troubleshooting

401 Unauthorized Error

Your token may be expired or revoked. Generate a new token and update your integration.

403 Forbidden Error

Token lacks required permissions. Ensure "See and renew domain names" and "Manage domain name technical configurations" are both enabled.

No DNS Records Showing

Make sure "Manage domain name technical configurations" permission is enabled for the token.

Token Expired

Gandi tokens expire after your selected duration (7 days to 1 year). Generate a new token and use the "Update Credentials" feature in Domain Collective.
