Cloudflare Setup Guide

Cloudflare Registrar requires a scoped API token and your account ID. Once connected, Domain Collective can read registrar data and manage DNS records for the corresponding zones.

Step 1: Gather your Account ID

You can find the account ID in the Cloudflare dashboard

  1. Visit the Cloudflare dashboard (dash.cloudflare.com)
  2. Select the account that owns your domains
  3. The account ID appears on the right sidebar under the Overview section

Step 2: Create an API Token

Token needs read access to registrar data and DNS management

  1. Open the API Tokens page (Profile → API Tokens) and click "Create Token"
  2. Start from the "Edit Cloudflare Workers" template or choose "Custom token"
  3. Add the following permissions:
    • Account → Registrar: Read
    • Zone → DNS: Read & Edit
    • (Optional) Zone → Zone: Read (for nameservers)
  4. Select the account that owns your domains
  5. Create the token and copy it immediately

Step 3: Connect to Domain Collective

Paste the API token + account ID into the integration form

Collect the following:

  • API Token: the token created in step 2
  • Account ID: from step 1

After you click Connect & Continue, we validate the credentials and start syncing your registrar domains and DNS records. Because Cloudflare controls nameservers, the update action will remain disabled in the dashboard.
